Our team of vets, nurses & receptionists are committed to ensure your kitten has the best start in life and are here to guide you through the first few important months of their life.
We recommend kittens are vaccinated from 9 weeks of age. The course consists of 2 vaccinations given 3-4 weeks apart.
Your kitten will then be vaccinated against the following diseases:-
Feline Leukaemia is a viral disease, transmitted via the cat's saliva. Therefore can be passed from cat to cat during a fight or even during grooming. The disease then begins to suppress the cat's immune system, causing secondary infections, tumours and even death.
You will have a 20 minute consultation with one of our veterinary surgeons which will enable you to discuss any questions or problems you any be experiencing.
Yearly booster vaccinations will then be needed to maintain immunity. These appointments will include a full health check and give you the opportunity to speak to one of our veterinary surgeons about any problems that may have arisen over the past year.
ONLY £15.00 (Includes a collar tag & life long registration)
Microchipping is a way of identifying your kitten. It is similar to a vaccination injection but it deposits a chip about the size of a grain of rice in the scruff between the shoulder blades. The chip carries a number specific to your cat. This number is then registered along with your details onto a national database so that if your cat is found and scanned they will be able to contact you straight away.
We would highly recommend microchipping.
Remember to also supervise your kitten during play time.
As a caring pet owner, you'll know that worms come with the territory, so worming your pet is important.
But why should you worm your pet regularly when they seem healthy?
Well, even without showing obvious symptoms, a pet without an appropriate worming treatment plan could be suffering from a worm infection.
Worms carried by cats and dogs can pose a health risk, not just to the pet in question, but to other animals, and to children and adults.
There are two worms in the UK carried by pets which can potentially cause problems in humans: Roundworms (toxocara species) and a type of tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus).
Our Milpro or Endogard Cat & Kitten Wormers will treat both round and tapeworms.
Worms can be anywhere, outside or inside, as tiny eggs that are just waiting to be picked up and eaten by your pet. Worms are hard for your pet to avoid and pets can acquire worm infections from any of the following sources:-
Your kitten will receive a complimentary Prinovox kitten wormer/flea treatment at his/her 1st or 2nd vaccination.
You are more than welcome to come down to the surgery on a monthly basis to get your kitten weighed and then one of our nurses/receptionists will work out the correct worming dose for you.
We also send out free text message worming reminders.
There are many different products available and it all depends on your cats lifestyle to which one suits you.
Fleas are blood sucking parasites that can make life miserable for pets and their owners.
They can cause:-
Your vet or nurse will give you a complimentary Prinovox Spot On flea treatment for your new kitten.
We strongly recommend your kittem is insured.
Insurance gives more freedom to provide the best care and treatment for your pet if it ever becomes unwell.
Insurance is a great way to ensure you can look after your pets should an emergency or ill health arises. When reviewing different insurance companies it is important to read through the small print, such as the length of cover provided per condition, the excess per condition and how often this needs to be paid and the total allowance per condition.
There are many different insurance companies and different policies to choose from. The main key feature is to ensure you get 'life cover' (the policy will cover a condition for life and not just for a year).
As Stamford Veterinary Centre is an approved Petplan Practice, we are able to offer you 4 weeks FREE, INSTANT insurance cover. So as soon as you leave the practice after your initial health check/vaccination, your new kitten will be covered for 4 weeks absolutely free of charge.
