Dev's Weight Loss Journey

My 10 year old Scottish Deerhound needed emergency spaying last summer after suffering a pyometra. She recovered well but then put on a lot of weight, which is obviously not good for the joints of an ageing dog. We started seeing Gemma, one of the nurses at the surgery, who worked out a sensible weight loss plan for her using Purina Pro Plan.

The weight loss was slow but regular and involved weekly checks with Gemma to see all was well. My dog was happy with the diet food and Gemma was happy with her having the odd treat.  I did weigh out the food each day.  Five months on and my dog has reached her target. I will be continuing with the maintenance diet.
